Laura and Emily Smith are the sister-and-sister founders of Molten 1090. They run the company side by side from their East London studio—by way of Bermuda—where the two were born and bred.
Design Ethos
We care deeply that if you are going to make something it should be made with intention—to be loved and used. At Molten 1090 we not only love beautiful things, we also create products that are considered in their purpose and design.
Process
When designing a new collection for Molten 1090, we establish the first and the final product from inception. The final product is made from excess glass produced in the making of its predecessors within the collection. This approach ensures a considered design process as well as providing our makers with transparency of how and when they will use the excess glass.
Bespoke
Laura Elizabeth Glass is the bespoke arm of Molten 1090 and marks Laura’s first independent venture as a glass artist. Laura Elizabeth Glass specialises in handblown glass chandeliers, other lighting as well as art commissions for private clients, hotels and boats.
